Chiropractic For Kids
Children have the same joints that we do, but they’re not fully formed yet. Their joints are still more cartilaginous than truly bony.
Nine out of ten kids that we check are fine! The majority of the children we take care of are families in our office being proactive ensuring their kids develop with good strong posture and function to the best of their ability as opposed to reacting and waiting until a problem arises.
For young babies, the most common complaints we see are those who are colicky, fussy, and experience sleep issues, nursing dysfunction, reflux, constipation, plagiocephaly, torticollis, and are not progressing as expected.
Younger children, toddlers and infants don’t usually arrive at the chiropractor’s office complaining that they threw their back out after lifting a really heavy Elmo doll or dancing too hard to the latest Disney songs!
The most common complaints we see with younger kids are Chronic Ear Infections, enuresis, headaches, growing pains, ADD/ADHD, Asthma, Autism, Digestive Issues, and/or extreme discomfort.
Older children — middle schoolers and teens — may come in with musculoskeletal complaints that resemble those of young adults, particularly if they are involved in athletics.
Children with Special Needs
Quality of Life It has been our experience that Specific Corrective Care Chiropractic has a life changing effect on larger childhood developmental disorders and syndromes like cerebral palsy, ADHD, autism, post-stroke, Down syndrome, seizures, and so on. Make no mistake, our doctors will never claim to “cure” a child with such conditions, however, they have helped hundreds of children and families make some changes that have allowed them to lead a more comfortable life. “We are able to improve these patient’s quality of life by keeping their system moving and allowing their nervous system to work the best it can, so their body can reach its fullest potential.”
