How do we combat stress?
All of the top experts have opinions, but the one consistent strategy that most can agree on is spaciousness.
Spaciousness - meaning, we need more space and time between tasks in our daily lives.
Spaciousness is NOT
Waking up with just enough time to quickly get out of bed, get dressed, throw water on your face, be sure to have socks, underwear, pants and a shirt on, rush to work and squeal into the parking lot 2 minutes before your start time.
Spaciousness is
Getting enough sleep so that you feel rested when the alarm goes off. Being able to wake up, stretch and think "Today is going to be a great day" then get up and start your morning routine. Maybe get your workout in, meditate, read, etc. Make a healthy breakfast and/or prep your healthy lunch. Drive to work in a relaxed state, singing to the music or enjoying the peace and quiet. Get to work with time to spare - so you can breathe, settle into your work mindset and be ready for the day!
Can you feel the difference in the two examples?
This means with your schedule, work or family that you may need to get up earlier, not stay up so late, or say no to the 5 requests for your time this upcoming Saturday.
However, with spaciousness, comes the ability to breathe, enjoying the task at hand, thinking more clearly, and pivoting IF things do need to change last minute (which in our family happens quite a bit) and you are behind or late for the next “item”.
